Kayleigh’s Postpartum Journey to Strength and Confidence.

75lbs lost, A whole lotta confidence gained.

Answering the Call—at Work and in Life

Kayleigh works as an Emergency Dispatcher for Hamilton Water—a role that demands composure, precision, and strength under pressure. But when she first walked into Outlaw, her life looked very different. She had just become a new mom, six months postpartum, on maternity leave and adjusting to the round-the-clock demands of caring for her baby boy. In December 2024, she joined Outlaw through the Dumbbells & Diapers program—a community designed for new moms to reconnect with movement, while keeping their babies close. For Kayleigh, it was a way to step outside the house, connect with other moms, and rediscover a part of herself she had lost during early motherhood.

Searching for Herself Again

After gaining 75 pounds during pregnancy and postpartum, Kayleigh found herself at a crossroads. She hadn’t worked out since college and had no clue how to get started again. The weight didn’t budge with breastfeeding, and her confidence was low. “I wanted to lose the baby weight,” she recalls, “but I also had no idea what to do in the gym.” That’s when she messaged Outlaw and heard about a program where she could work out with her son and other moms. It sounded like a lifeline—and a little spark of excitement in a foggy time.

From Fear to Firsts

Kayleigh’s first impression of Outlaw was the welcoming energy—and Coach Andrea. “We lucked out with the greatest coach ever,” she says. But the beginning wasn’t without its challenges. Box jumps terrified her. “Was I scared of the box? Scared of falling? I’m not sure—but it took time to get comfortable.” That discomfort gradually turned into confidence. Highlights like getting her first rope climb, full wall walks, and leveling up in gymnastics with Coach Nick became milestones on a journey marked by grit and growth. From Dumbbells & Diapers to Mom Strong and eventually the 6AM crew, she kept showing up—even when the schedule got tough returning to work.

Kayleigh
Becoming Stronger Inside and Out

Today, Kayleigh is back to her pre-pregnancy weight—and stronger than ever. “I like to think I have a little muscle now,” she jokes. She’s back squatting over 100 pounds and feeling more powerful than she has since college. But the transformation wasn’t just physical. She tackled gut health issues, cut out alcohol and caffeine, and built healthy, sustainable habits. “The gym has become my happy place,” she says. “I never thought I’d be the person who looks forward to working out.” The boost in energy and mindset helps her keep up with her growing boy—who might already be faster than her!

To the Next Mama on the Fence

When asked what she’d tell someone who feels the way she once did, Kayleigh doesn’t hesitate: “Trust the process. Some days are good, some not so good, but some are great—and you’ll do things you never thought you could do.” She’s grateful for the community that made her feel welcome from day one: the coaches who believed in her, the moms who became friends, and the early-morning crew who cheer her on. Kayleigh’s story is one of transformation, but also one of showing up—again and again—for herself, her family, and the life she’s building.
