Always Active, But Looking for Something That Fit
Tasha Marzilli has always loved exercise.
Growing up, movement was a constant in her life — whether she was working out, playing sports, or finding ways to stay active. But after having her daughter in 2023, life looked a little different.
With two kids under four, a busy household, and the rhythm of maternity leave, Tasha was looking for a way to fit workouts back into her life in a way that actually made sense.
That’s when she found Outlaw through the Diapers and Dumbbells course.
“I was looking for a way to fit in my workouts in my increasingly busy life with two kids under 4,” she says. “The Diapers and Dumbbells class seemed to check all the boxes.”
A New Challenge During a Busy Season
Tasha works in Workforce Strategy for a large healthcare organization. Her days are full and varied, supporting hospital departments with staffing challenges and making sure they have the people they need to provide incredible care to patients.
Some days, that looks like planning national advertising campaigns. Other days, it might mean enhancing recruitment processes or rebuilding an applicant tracking system.
“The days certainly vary and I love it,” she says.
But while on maternity leave, the days at home could feel repetitive.
“During this time, the social aspect of a group workout class was a huge motivator and what I was looking for,” Tasha says. “While on maternity leave, the days can feel monotonous and I was searching for a new challenge, a new experience to get back to ‘myself’ after having kids.”
It wasn’t just about exercise. It was about carving out a space that felt like hers.
The First Regular Class
After starting with Diapers and Dumbbells and transitioning out of the Mom Strong course, Tasha remembers her first “regular” class clearly.
She was nervous.
“I was extremely nervous, intimidated by all of the regulars who just seemed to know what they were doing,” she says. “I was not feeling at the same level athletically as them.”
She started questioning whether she belonged in the class at all.
“I was very much inside my head asking if I should be in this class.”
But that night became one of the moments that confirmed Outlaw was the right place for her.
During the workout, a few members introduced themselves, started conversations, and made her feel incredibly welcome. Andrea, the coach that evening, made sure Tasha was scaling appropriately and had what she needed.
And by the end of the workout?
“I believe I crushed it,” Tasha says.
Even better, those same members who had welcomed her at the beginning gave her props for a job well done.

The Community That Keeps Her Coming Back
For Tasha, that first regular class reflected what she has come to love most about Outlaw.
“The supportive community at Outlaw is what keeps me coming back,” she says. “The focus on inclusion and ensuring all feel like they have space to work out at their level while challenging themselves to be a bit better than they were yesterday.”
There have been many moments over the years that have confirmed this type of training works best for her. But that combination of coaching, scaling, support, and community made a lasting impression.
It helped her realize she didn’t have to already know everything. She didn’t have to be at anyone else’s level. She just had to show up, work hard, and keep building from where she was.
“This One Is For Me”
Like many parents, Tasha spends most of her time taking care of others — at work, at home, and in everyday life.
Outlaw has become the place where she gets to commit to herself.
“I am proud of my commitment to myself,” she says. “To continually make time for the workouts that make me feel better, while the majority of my time is spent taking care of others. This one is for me.”
That commitment has paid off.
“Now, I can say I am physically in the best shape of my life and able to keep up with my active little ones — even outrun them sometimes.”
Being at Outlaw has also been a huge part of her mental health and her sense of identity after having kids.
“In terms of mental health, being at Outlaw has been a huge part of ‘getting back’ to myself with dedicated time to being the best version of me and making friends on the way.”
Strong, Confident, and Maybe in a Cult
Since joining, Tasha says her confidence has changed — in her strength, in how she feels, and even in how she dresses.
“Physically, I am in the best shape of my life and my confidence in myself and the way I dress has changed because I just KNOW I look good.”
And, of course, there is the added bonus of getting to tell people she does CrossFit.
“Well now I get to tell people I do CrossFit and then they look at me like I’ve joined a cult,” she jokes.
But beyond the jokes, one of the most meaningful parts of her journey is what her kids get to see.
“Outside of the gym, I love showing my kids that mommy makes time for exercise and enjoys movement.”
Tasha’s Advice
For someone who is looking for a place to start, especially someone who wants support, coaching, and a community that genuinely cheers them on, Tasha keeps it simple:
“For those that are looking for a great place to work out with supportive coaches and join a community of others that want to cheer you on — this is it.”
