Athletic Background
Cameron competed in rugby at the provincial level with the Alberta Wolfpack. His athletic resume is one of the most varied on the team:
-Scouted to trial for Canada U-20 following National Championships in Kelowna (2019)
-3rd Place, Rugby 7s National Championships (Alberta Wolfpack)
-MVP in his first year of senior men’s rugby
-Two years training as a Royal Marines Young Officer (training environment)
-Completed the Racing Dusk Trail Race — 36km at -30°C (December 2022)

He also trains recreationally in soccer, snowboarding, and dog sledding.

Coaching Philosophy
“My job as a coach is to inspire people to be 1% better every day and fall in love with the process.”

Cameron’s biggest coaching conviction is about volume and intent: more isn’t better — better is better. “Every session doesn’t need to leave you rolling on the floor. Train with intent aligned to a specific goal, with the right recovery to support the workload.”

His consistency principle: “Six days a week at 85% will get you results far faster than one perfect day followed by six mediocre ones.”

His thinking on programming has also matured over time. Early in his career he felt workouts needed to be complex to be credible. Now: “Simple is better. A programme you can stick to 90% of the time beats a perfect one you can’t. Intent and movement quality matter far more than loading the bar and racing the clock.”

On the part of coaching nobody talks about: burnout. “As coaches we pour energy into everyone. When it’s time to train yourself, often it’s just not there.”

Background & Perspective
Cameron is a firefighter — certified through IFSAC in Firefighter 1 & 2 and Hazmat — and brings military-level standards of discipline and preparation to his coaching. His batch officer in the military left a lasting impression: “The lessons he taught me, I’ll carry into every aspect of my life.”

His current athletic goals are ambitious: qualifying for CrossFit Semifinals, and completing an Ironman and the Leadville 100 Ultra Marathon in his 30s.

What keeps him training: “I’m always chasing something. I just love being healthy — and the endorphins after a great session keep me coming back.”

What sport taught him: “People skills. How to work as part of a team and the camaraderie that comes with it. Team sports should be mandatory for every kid growing up.”
