Experience Coaching since 2024 (CrossFit); 30+ years coaching minor sports

Ty coaches adult general fitness at Outlaw North, and brings over three decades of coaching experience in lacrosse, hockey, and soccer at the youth and high school level — including teams that reached multiple provincial championships.

Athletic Background
Ty has competed in CrossFit and played junior hockey.

Coaching Philosophy
“My job as a coach is to meet you where you are each day while challenging you to take the next step forward. Whether that means modifying a workout, building confidence, or pushing you past your comfort zone — I’ll help you keep moving forward and celebrate every small victory and major milestone along the way.”

Ty’s biggest pushback on fitness culture: the belief that results require extreme effort. “Being consistent with realistic efforts wins every time. Just show up each day, do your best for that day, and keep building good habits. Those small, consistent efforts add up and create results that last a lifetime.”

His thinking has also shifted over the years — away from numbers and metrics, toward longevity. “It’s not about the scale or how much you’re lifting. It’s about doing things that will keep you moving and healthy for years to come.”

Background & Perspective
Ty’s background in social services shapes how he shows up as a coach — with genuine attentiveness to where people are, not just where they want to go. His NCCP Level 3 certification places him among a small group of coaches trained to develop competitive athletes at a national program standard.

When asked what he’s most proud of, Ty didn’t mention his own achievements: “The times I’ve played a role in others’ achievements — from minor sports teams winning provincial championships, to watching my kids excel in competition, to helping a member hit a PR.”

What keeps him training: his family, and a commitment to staying strong and capable for years to come.
